Navigating IP Advice – New Courses

TAL has launched a suite of new live and on-demand courses which it says is designed to give financial advisers the confidence to navigate Income Protection advice following a period of considerable change.

A statement from the insurer says that the TAL Risk Academy Income Protection courses are designed to help advisers “…pivot and tailor their advice in response to the recent regulatory and product changes.”

The courses will be delivered by TAL National Technical Managers Scott Hoger and David Glen.

TAL General Manager, Retail Distribution Individual Life, Niall McConville, says Income Protection is changing “…and we have responded by providing added support for advisers to assist them in adapting and upskilling for a new era.”

“The TAL Risk Academy aims to play a key role in advisers’ education journey by offering industry-aligned courses on topics ranging from the fundamentals of Income Protection, through to more in-depth case study analysis of emerging advice strategies.”

He says the Income Protection Masterclass focuses on providing participants with strategies that can help them “…strike the balance between compliance obligations and providing advice that is tailored to clients’ goals and budget.”

The courses on offer include:

  • Income Protection Masterclass
  • Best Interest Balancing Act
  • Income Protection Fundamentals
  • Understanding the I in IP
  • The changing landscape of Income Protection Advice

McConville says the insurer has also enhanced the options for accessing Risk Academy content.

“On-demand courses are proving increasingly popular and can help advisers build a personalised learning program for their needs.”

The Income Protection Masterclass will take place in person in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide starting from 22 March until 13 April. Virtual sessions are available for those wishing to join remotely.
