The parents of MetLife Australia’s customers can now have access to its 360Health program at no extra cost, as the insurer responds to changing demographics.

The company says that according to its Future Insights research, 87% of Australians want wellbeing to be promoted, however, only 58% say society is set up to support wellbeing.

“The same research found 53% of people hope to live to 100. With the Australian population aging (one in six are over 65), access to vital services that enable customers to manage their health is more important than ever.”

MetLife’s Chief Customer and Marketing Officer Lina Saliba says 360Health gives customers “…access to an award-winning suite of health services from medical and mental health through to nutrition and fitness advice.”

“Many of these services can be used whenever, or wherever, required irrespective of whether you are healthy or making a claim. They complement existing treatments to help support health and wellbeing goals.”

MetLife says easy access to health services, especially for people outside metro areas, is vital to helping people prevent and recover from illness and injury, as well as live healthier for longer.

“Children and partners of eligible customers are already able to link to 360Health virtual care services, and this has now been extended to parents, including in-laws, making approximately three million more people eligible to use the program’s …suite of health support resources.”

The insurer says that expanding eligibility to 360Health also supports customers who are increasingly becoming carers of aging or ill parents.

“In Australia, one in 10 people are carers and research shows they are 2.5 times more likely to have low wellbeing when compared with the average Australian.”

Saliba says that the company knows that family plays an important role in the health and wellbeing of customers and that’s why it wants the parents of customers “…to also have access to the benefits of 360Health. Caring for a parent can be difficult and this is another way to support our customers.”
