Poll Results – Beware of Email Security

0
My firm’s email system is the most vulnerable entry point for cyber activity which may compromise the security of the personal details we hold for our clients.
  • Agree (72%)
  • Disagree (17%)
  • I wish I knew (10%)

Advisers generally appear to agree that their email system is the weakest link when it comes to the security of their business and that of the data they hold for their clients.

As we go to press, six in ten of those voting in our latest poll agree their email is the most vulnerable entry point for cyber crime, while the remainder is evenly split by those who disagree with the proposition and those who wish they knew.

Of interest behind the scenes is the lack of overall engagement shown by Riskinfo readers in this topic. This relative lack of engagement seems to be telling us that, at least for Riskinfo readers, there are many more pressing issues that are front of mind for you at the moment.

Nonetheless, while the results of this poll are based on a lower than average number of votes, it still sends a message that confirms the views shared by Hub24’s Greg Hansen at the 2024 FAAA Congress recently held in Brisbane, at which he advocated for the value delivered by client portal technology, not least of which includes the additional security and protection it affords the advice practice and the clients it serves (see: Advisers Cautioned on Email Security).

With thanks as always to all Riskinfo readers, our poll remains open for another week ans we welcome your thoughts on what remains a critically-important issue for all advise businesses…
