New MLC Team to Focus on Longevity in Advised Insurance

MLC Life Insurance has reshaped its Retail Advised team with a number of current MLC senior staffers taking on key leadership roles under Chief Customer Officer of Retail Advised Insurance, Melissa Heyhoe.

The new five-member team reporting through to Heyhoe includes Russell Hannah in the newly created role of General Manager, Retail Advised Insurance Sales.

Hannah rejoined MLC Life Insurance in May 2016 after having worked with BT Financial Group from mid 2014 to mid 2016, having previously spent more than four years in various roles at MLC Australia (see: MLC Names New Insurance Sales Manager).

Hannah is joined by former AMP Head of Retirement & Product Management Adrienne Cochrane who shifted to MLC in August 2016 and has taken on the role of Head of Customer Solutions, Longevity & Insurance and Charlotte Sheehan in the role of Head of Customer Experience & Retention.

Also joining the Retail Advised team are Christopher Ong in the role of Head of Pricing & Profitability and Simon Dent as Head of Underwriting & New Business. Both Ong and Dent joined MLC in March 2016.

Heyhoe said the team would be focused on the development of new longevity solutions and improvements in underwriting and builds on the growth of retail advised sales which increased by 55% to 1 October 2016, compared to the same period in the previous year.

“We’ll be innovating in underwriting which, across the industry, has been focused on identifying customers’ faults and what’s wrong with them. We want to do things differently. By using technology and data to ask our customers only the right questions, we ensure our customers also tell us all the positive aspects of their health as well,” Heyhoe said.

Recently, MLC also announced the formation of a new Bancassurance, Digital and Direct team that would head up its push into digital services and products that were matched to the life stages of MLC Life Insurance customers (see: MLC Eyes Digital Driven Future As New Team Named).
