The 90 day pilot program – the OnePath Steps Challenge – began on 21 July and is being conducted with OneCare customers who can use wearable fitness devices or a mobile phone fitness applications to track steps. Participants will receive a WISH e-gift card each time they reach 10 days of a minimum 10,000 steps per day.

“Advisers tell us clients are looking for ways to improve both their health and their household budget, with affordability often being reported as a reason why people overlook the importance of insurance cover,” said ANZ Head of Life Insurance Gerard Kerr.

“By encouraging more customers to live an active, healthy lifestyle, we hope to address the industry challenge of increasing numbers of claims and the impact that has on premium affordability,” he said.

Kerr said the pilot program was one of a range of initiatives under consideration to drive healthy behaviours and would also be used to shape the ongoing development of OnePath products.
