IOOF has appointed a senior advice executive from ANZ to head up its expanded financial advice division, which will be created after the completion of the acquisition of ANZ’s Aligned Dealer Groups business.
Darren Whereat, currently ANZ General Manager, Aligned Licensees and Advice Standards will move over to IOOF into the newly created role of General Manager, Advice.
At present, Whereat heads three aligned advice businesses – RI Advice Group, Financial Services Partners and Millennium3 – and will continue to do so at IOOF as well as leading the latter’s existing advice businesses.
His move to the new role follows nearly six years working with ANZ owned businesses, including three years as head of RI Advice Group, and previous senior roles in advice businesses at BT Financial Group, Asgard and MLC.
IOOF Group General Manager of Wealth Management, Renato Mota said the expansion of IOOF’s advice capabilities had led to changes in the scale and resources available to the group as well as the creation of new wealth management structure to support the expanded capability.
“Key to this is the newly created role of General Manager Advice. We want someone absolutely focused on ensuring that IOOF advice business is wholly committed to client outcomes and assisting advisers deliver these,” Mota said.
