AIA Launches eApp for Super Members

AIA Australia (AIA) has announced the launch of LIFEapp, a new online application tool for group insurance members, and has also flagged the impending launch of a new online claims service, called ‘eClaims’.

LIFEapp is an end-to-end, online insurance application tool, incorporating a needs calculator and quoting tool.  According to AIA, LIFEapp has been tailored to meet the specific needs of the group insurance market by providing super fund members with a simple, straight-forward way to increase their cover.

Complementing LIFEapp will be eClaims, intended by AIA too be a market leading claims collection technology.  Due for release later this year, eClaims will provide members with the ability to lodge claims electronically.  Supported by a tele-collect service, AIA believes the technology will significantly reduce the turn-around time for the completion of claims.

Group insurance is all about claims

Chief Distribution & Marketing Officer at AIA, Damien Mu, said “Our priority is to simplify and personalise the claims process for members.  Group insurance is all about claims.  The time has come, if not long past, to address the inherent issues which are apparent across the industry. We must make wholesale changes and not just tinker around the edges.”

Mr Mu added that that investing in technology was a way for AIA to tackle the underinsurance issue head-on: “Technology continues to play a major role in the group insurance industry and AIA Australia will continue to invest in new technologies to ensure its partners can offer their members an affordable and seamless life insurance benefit,” said Mr Mu.

The announcement follows the launch of a similar eApplication by MetLife in August this year.
