Zurich Calls For Cadets

Zurich Financial Services is targeting second year undergraduates for the first time as it calls for applications for its 2011 cadetship intake program. The cadet program, aimed at undergraduates studying in the areas of business, finance, commerce or IT, will be tailored to each cadet’s career interests, as they develop their knowledge of the range of options a career in insurance can offer.

“We’re choosing second-year undergraduates because, by this stage, students are already recognising where their strengths lie and are making more informed decisions about their potential career,” said Anne O’Keefe, Head of Human Resources at Zurich.

We encourage undergraduates to consider insurance as a career…

“We encourage undergraduates to consider insurance as a career and cadetships are a great way to show young people the great diversity and challenge in financial services career paths.  For example, we have employees with degrees in a broad range of fields including law, medical science, finance, engineering as well as the full gamut of business specialisations,” Ms O’Keefe said.

A key feature of the Zurich program is the flexibility it offers cadets, Ms O’Keefe said.  “Unlike other financial sector businesses, which expect their cadets to work full-time and to squeeze in evening or weekend classes, Zurich’s cadets can work two to three days a week and continue their student life on campus.  When the summer holidays come around, cadets can choose to step up to full-time work,” Ms O’Keefe added.

There are five cadet places, four in Sydney and one in Melbourne. Applications for the program close on 27 October 2010. For more information on the program, click here to visit the Zurich website.
