Zurich and the AFA have released a series of insights from top advisers via a new YouTube channel to mark the launch of the 2011 AFA Adviser of the Year Award.

In a series of short videos called ‘Tips from the Top’, finalists from the 2010 AFA Adviser of the Year, including its winner, Steve Salvia, share their thoughts and ideas about the key drivers that have led to their success.  The videos, available on Zurich’s new Zurich Life TV  channel, cover areas including:

  • Marketing
  • Networking
  • Technology
  • Client care

Colin Morgan, Chief Executive of Award sponsor Zurich Life & Investments noted that while the fundamental drivers of adviser success have remained the same for decades, the nature of those drivers is clearly evolving:

Technology and marketing are just two areas where advisers are increasingly able to differentiate themselves

“Technology and marketing are just two areas where advisers are increasingly able to differentiate themselves and the evolving social media landscape really brings these two areas together.

“That’s why we thought YouTube was the perfect medium to share the wisdom and insights of our industry’s most elite advisers,” said Mr Morgan.

In related news, the AFA has announced the addition of a new member to its judging panel for this prestigious award, Dr Rebecca Shiels.

Dr Shiels is the Director of Research at Beaton Research and Consulting.  She has worked closely with the major life insurance providers in Australia and New Zealand, measuring satisfaction among advisers, developing market segmentation and, more recently, launching a quarterly survey of advisers in Australia, giving her a ‘birds eye view’ of best practice drivers amongst advisers.

The winner of the 2011 AFA Adviser of the Year Award will be announced at a gala dinner that will complete the 2011 AFA National Conference, being held on the Gold Coast from 23 to 25 October.
