Key executive appointments and departures have been announced by AIA Australia, ANZ and PIS:

AIA Australia

AIA Australia has announced its CEO, Damien Green, has been promoted to a newly-created regional role within the group.  He has been appointed CEO Group Corporate Solutions, with responsibility for developing the Hong Kong-based company’s Group Insurance business across all 15 of AIA’s markets, including Australia.

Replacing Mr Green as Australian CEO is Peter Crewe.  Mr Crewe is currently serving the group as the President Director and CEO of AIA’s Indonesian operations.

Both appointments will take effect from 1 December 2011.

ANZ Wealth Departure, Acting Appointment

ANZ has announced the impending departure of its Wealth (Australia) MD, John Van Der Wielen.  Mr Van Der Wielen has been appointed to UK-based insurer Friends Life as its Managing Director International, reporting to CEO, Andy Briggs.

Replacing Mr Van Der Wielen in an acting capacity will be ANZ Wealth General Manager, Gavin Pearce.  ANZ advises Mr Van Der Wielen will remain with the group for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition before joining Friends Life at the end of this year.

New PIS CEO

Professional Investment Services has a new CEO, following the appointment of general insurance exec. Peter Walther to the position.

Mr Walther joins PIS from global insurance broker and risk advice firm, Marsh, where he was the company’s Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Private Equity and M&A Services.

Commenting on Mr Walther’s appointment, Professional Investment Holdings Managing Director, Grahame Evans, said “He is a persuasive leader with impressive financial management skills who will motivate staff and network representatives to continually test themselves in an ever changing market.”

Mr Walther commenced his new role this week.
