Macquarie, UHG Medical Assessments Initiative

Macquarie Life has announced a joint initiative with health services provider, UHG, which it says will provide advisers with a more streamlined medical assessment process.

In what has been described as a market first, the insurer has directly integrated UHG’s Unifier platform, originally launched in 2010, into the Macquarie Life online platform, enabling advisers to view detailed progress of all pending medical requirements.

According to UHG’s Managing Director, Dr Brandon Carp, medical assessment information can now be sent electronically between Macquarie Life and UHG, helping to drive efficiencies for advisers by reducing the time it takes to assess new business.

“The new solution will streamline the collection of medical information required by life insurance companies, reducing the time it takes to process a new policy or assess a claim so it is a win for planners and their customers,” he said.

Justin Delaney, Head of Insurance and Platforms for Macquarie Adviser Services said the group was always looking for ways to help advisers work more efficiently.

“By using Unifier, we are helping to remove what can often be a time-consuming administrative process and streamlining the medical assessments process for advisers, allowing them to focus on where they can add most value, which is advising their clients.”
