New PD Day Concept

0

In what is understood to be a first in Australia, a group of advisers operating under different licensees has joined together to arrange its own professional development (PD) day.

United by their membership of the Australian Risk Advisers LinkedIn network, the intention of this PD day is for advisers to generate their own program of topics specifically identified by the group as being most relevant to their advice businesses.

Under the theme of Best Practice, the topics planned for the half day program include:

  • Best Practice in Working with Underwriters
  • Best Practice in Risk Software & Process
  • Best Practice in Partnership Management
  • Best Practice in Social Media
  • Best Practice Comparing Direct v Group v Retail Risk
  • Best Practice Without Crossing the Law

This last topic in the program considers how advisers communicate with their clients and the public within new forms of technology and social interaction, looking at what is permissible from a legal perspective.  The group sees this as an important subject, given that written law sometimes lags behind advancements in technology.

This first Australian Risk Advisers PD day is being held in Melbourne on 6th March and is open for anyone in the life insurance industry who wishes to attend.

Australian Risk Advisers founder, Aaron Zelman, told riskinfo he will consider conducting professional development sessions in other cities, subject to demand.

The event is free of charge, but attendees will be asked to make a donation to the Australian Risk Advisers’ chosen charity.
