The Financial Planning Association has named the national winners of the 2013 Best Practice Awards.

The winners were chosen from a shortlist of state-based winners, recognised for their advice, ethics, practice standards and professional conduct.

Queensland’s James Kenny has been awarded the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Professional Best Practice Award. As well as delivering personalised, holistic advice to his clients at Tupicoffs, Mr Kenny also mentors undergraduate students and young financial planners, to assist with their personal development.

Fellow Queenslander and Tupicoffs representative, Mark Milner, took out the Financial Planner AFP Best Practice Award. Mr Milner has worked in financial planning for nine years, specialising in wealth accumulation and protection. He is currently undertaking his CFP designation, which he is set to achieve in 2014.

The Future2 Community Service Best Practice Award went to Jeremy Gillman-Wells, for his work with the NSW Cancer Council.

FPA CEO, Mark Rantall, offered his personal congratulations to all the winners, thanking them for their extraordinary service to clients and the wider professional advice community.

“These awards recognise the best of the best. FPA members comply with some of the highest financial planning standards on a global stage,” Mr Rantall said. “These Award winners have not only complied with the FPA Code, but in so doing have offered a considerable contribution to the profession through community involvement, mentoring and support to their local FPA Chapter.

“Our profession has been through a period of tremendous change in recent years and has made significant strides in advancing the global standing of the profession. These planners have, in spite of any interruption to business, persisted for their clients’ best interests. The three winners, selected from a short list, truly embody the values of our professional community in their everyday work with clients and are exemplars of the financial planning profession.”
