Latest Poll – 2016

Over the next 12 months, do you expect the amount of risk insurance business you write to change?
  • Yes, I expect it to decrease (46%)
  • Yes, I expect it to increase (30%)
  • No, I expect it to stay the same (24%)

Our latest poll asks you to consider whether you think you will write more risk new business in 2016.

This question has been taken from our recent reader survey, which delivered a generally positive result from advisers regarding their new business expectations for this year (see: Advisers Bullish on Risk Business Growth).

This poll offers all advisers the opportunity to answer the same question, but also to tell us why you hold your view.

Late last year and continuing in January 2016, we have seen a number of passionate adviser lobbies emerge for the purpose of agitating to roll back the new Life Insurance Framework reforms, particularly the remuneration-related reforms. But despite much opposition to some or all of the measures contained within the new Life Insurance Framework, we have still experienced this generally positive mood from advisers on the question of new business levels for 2016.

Why?

Is there a general sense within the adviser community that the structures you are developing within your advice practice in terms of efficiencies and business growth will more than compensate for what many advisers see as negative aspects associated with the LIF reform components? Is there a proportion of advisers who feel the potentially negative financial impact of the LIF reforms on advice practices may have been over-stated? Perhaps some advisers believe they will write more new business policies this year without necessarily increasing their income.

…And we’re also considering the reasonably low proportion who have said they believe they will write less risk new business this year. Again, why? Is it an obvious answer, or is it involved? Are broader economic conditions a more important factor than the nature of the Life Insurance Framework reforms?

As always, we hope you will cast your vote and share your views with your peers…
