MLC Life Insurance has announced it has appointed Rodney Cook as its new CEO and Managing Director following an extensive global search.
Cook is described in a release announcing his appointment as “…a highly experienced CEO and financial services executive with strong actuarial insight and deep first-hand knowledge of UK, Australian and NZ financial services.”
His background includes time spent as Managing Director of AMP New Zealand and Pearl Assurance in the UK, CEO of London Life as well as holding a number of senior roles at Zurich Financial Services, Prudential UK.
While delighted with the opportunity to lead MLC Life Insurance, Cook acknowledged these are challenging times for all Australians and their life insurers. He aims “…to deliver outstanding service to our 1.3 million customers through our business partners and people.”
Cook replaces previous incumbent, David Hackett, who resigned in late January this year, and takes over from Sean McCormack, who has acted as interim MD since then.
The MLC Life Insurance Board took note of McCormack’s leadership during the last five months and looks forward to him taking on an expanded role within MLC Life Insurance in due course.
