The FPA has launched its 2020 Virtual Congress masterclass series which will go live on 9 July.

A statement from the association says it’s offering its Congress format as a virtual event for the first time in response to the pandemic and notes that it has been designed to follow the programme offered at Congress, but viewers will be able to be participate from home and access on-demand.

“From July through to October 2020, the FPA Virtual Congress will bring together financial planners from across Australia to share knowledge, access quality, in-depth peer-to-peer learning and discussion, and learn from inspiring speakers,” says FPA CEO Dante De Gori.

Dante De Gori…the congress programme is set to inspire financial planners to ‘reinvent’ themselves and their practices…

He adds that as we move forward following the pandemic, the congress programme is set to inspire financial planners to ‘reinvent’ themselves and their practices to face the challenges and embrace the opportunities.

The congress is open to both members and non-members who will have access a total of 17 sessions over four months. This includes four masterclasses with four streams over four months along with a virtual keynote event.

All the masterclasses will be available for on-demand viewing for up to 12 months.

Delegates will receive a CPD certificate after each of the masterclasses with their available CPD and can earn more than half of their CPD hours for the year, the statement notes.

The four reinvention masterclasses include:

  • The regulators – understanding your responsibilities: Ask your questions and hear exclusively from the regulators about financial planning matters, followed by a panel discussion (July).
  • Investment markets and portfolio design: A deep dive into the pandemic’s impact on the economy and how to have compelling conversations with clients in volatile markets (August).
  • FASEA Code of Ethics in practice: Real life examples and practical application of the code for financial planners (September).
  • Professional wellness and client care: Making sure both you and your clients are okay (October).
