TAL has launched its summer 2021/22 learning program for its adviser education platform, the TAL Risk Academy.

A statement from the insurer says that following disruptions to business as usual activities this year due to Covid-19, TAL is encouraging advisers to take advantage of its on-demand programs over the summer break to achieve their 2021 continuing professional development hour and learning targets.

Niall McConville… January is a good time to access learning and be in a good place for the new year ahead…

TAL General Manager, Retail Distribution Individual Life, Niall McConville, says they recognise the amount of change advisers have managed this year, including the impacts of Covid-19.

“For advisers needing CPD hours, fulfilment of degree requirements or the chance to access training to help plan out 2022, January is a good time to access learning and be in a good place for the new year ahead.”

Now in its seventh year, the TAL Risk Academy supports advisers’ education goals by offering flexible CPD learning and industry-aligned courses that can be tailored to suit advisers at every stage of their career.

The program offers more than 60 on-demand options including courses and CPD-accredited reading articles, in addition to a range of virtual and face-to-face courses from entry-level options through to advanced, technical topics for more experienced advisers.

…The majority of the academy courses are free of charge…

The majority of TAL Risk Academy courses are free of charge, aside from the Risk Academy Masterclasses, which incur a $55 fee that TAL donates to the Australian Business Community Network to help Australians from lower socio-economic backgrounds access quality education.

The company says that to date the academy has donated $750,000 to the ABCN and has received an average adviser rating of 4.7 out 5 stars across all courses, with more than 75,000 CPD hours issued and more than 13,500 advisers now registered.

The TAL Risk Academy courses are grouped into three main areas:

  • Advice skills and training – Courses focused on entry-level to advanced advice strategies, technical expertise and client engagement skills
  • Business management – Courses focused on strategy and marketing to help advisers to grow their business and help advisers navigate their Professional Year or mentor a Professional Year candidate
  • Education and professionalism – Courses focused on supporting advisers with the latest industry requirements, from the FASEA Exam to the Code of Ethics
