TAL has launched its 2022 Risk Academy Program for financial advisers which includes new courses on Income Protection and on Ethics, the new Professional Year program and an expanded library of CPD-accredited articles.

The insurer says in a statement that the program is a “…comprehensive suite of new and updated courses with learning pathways for advisers at every stage of their career.”

It says the 2022 program offers more than 80 on-demand and live courses, with four key areas of focus including:

  • Income Protection
  • Growing Your Business
  • Professional Year
  • Business Insurance

TAL General Manager, Retail Distribution Individual Life, Niall McConville, says the 2022 program had been designed to provide a greater range of virtual, on-demand and face-to-face courses, from entry-level foundation courses through to advanced, technical topics for more experienced advisers.

“Now in its eighth year, we’re really proud to continue offering and evolving the TAL Risk Academy with flexible courses that are aligned to advisers’ current education needs.”

He says that the insurer was supporting new entrants through their Professional Year and guiding experienced advisers through product changes and implementing new strategies, and that it would be adding more courses through the year.

The courses are grouped into the following main areas:

  • Advice skills and training – courses focused on entry-level to advanced advice strategies, technical expertise and client engagement skills
  • Business management – courses focused on strategy and marketing to help advisers grow their business.
  • Education and professionalism – courses focused on supporting advisers with the latest industry requirements, from the financial adviser exam to the Code of Ethics.
  • Professional year – a structured program for new entrants, designed to build knowledge and key skills from risk advice and strategy to client conversations and exam preparation

The insurer says the majority of its courses are free, aside from the Risk Academy Masterclasses which incur a $55 fee that it donates to the Australian Business Community Network, which helps young Australians from lower socio-economic backgrounds access quality education. To date, the academy has donated more than $750,000.

It adds that since inception it has provided more than 85,000 CPD hours and more than 13,500 advisers have registered.
