Corporate regulator ASIC has appointed Scott Gregson as its new CEO, he will take up his new role on 17 March replacing the organisation’s retiring interim CEO Greg Yanco.
ASIC Chair Joe Longo says Gregson, who has spent the past 30 years at the ACCC, is an “impressive leader” who will bring extensive experience to the role.
“His commitment to achieving regulatory outcomes that benefit all Australians makes him a strong addition to support ASIC’s commission and head the agency’s executive leadership team,” says Longo.
The appointment is the latest in a string of new hires at the organisation. During the past 12 months it has recruited Executive Directors for:
- Enforcement and Compliance
- Regulation and Supervision
- Data, Digital and Technology
- Chief People, Culture and Transformation
“As ASIC enters the next phase of the program of transformation we began three years ago, Scott’s experience supporting digital and technology delivery, and his pedigree in enforcement and compliance, will continue to ensure ASIC is well placed to meet future challenges,” says Longo.
Gregson has led teams that litigated against Volkswagen, Coles, Apple, and led the ACCC’s digital and data transformation program as CEO.
