MetLife Expands Health Support

MetLife has expanded its 360Health program to support women navigating the challenges of perimenopause and menopause.

The firm’s Menopause Support service offers MetLife customers and their families access to free consultations with specialist nurses for symptom management, medical referrals, and holistic health advice.

Based on a survey of 1,058 35 to 64-year-olds – who were either experiencing perimenopause or had reached menopause – the company states 77% of those using its support service reported improved symptom control and greater ability to remain in the workforce.

Research from MetLife reveals one in three Australian women are financially worse off due to menopause-related impacts on their career, income, and superannuation contributions.

The insurer estimates menopause-driven time off work costs Australian women $1.5bn in earnings each year, translating to up to $40,000 less in superannuation by retirement – widening the gender retirement gap.

“Menopause Support is a critical offering for a largely overlooked condition that affects every woman,” says MetLife Australia Chief Customer & Marketing Officer Lina Saliba. “It is often uncomfortable, and for some, it is debilitating.

“We are proud that through this service, and others in our full suite of 360Health services, we can help people feel more confident in life and at work.”

Saliba says 360Health is offered to all the firm’s customers at no additional cost.

“We find that approximately 80% of customers who have used Menopause Support also use at least one other service, such as nutrition advice, fitness & recovery and mental health assist,” she says.
