Life insurance industry senior exec, Michael Downey, has announced his retirement from full time rolls to colleagues and close industry associates, bringing to an end a tenure of more than forty years in the life insurance and financial services industry.
Downey commenced in the sector in the early 1980s at Friends Provident, before moving to senior roles at AC&L/AXA, CommInsure and Tower Life/TAL. He then spent 14 years at MLC Wealth ahead of his last five years at MLC Life Insurance/Acenda.
In his retirement message, Downey noted that leading the Distribution Team at Acenda and working with other key parts of the organisation has been the most satisfying leadership role he has undertaken, reflecting on the progress the organisation has made during that time.
In noting he departs this week on very good terms with his current employer, Downey says he has been extremely proud of working in the sector, where he refers to the advice industry as a very noble profession and one of which he has been proud to be a part.
