Former AFA President Joe Nowak has formally retired ending a 47 year long career as a financial adviser.

Nowak’s last day as an adviser was 30 June 2017 working at the same business he started on 1 June 1970 – Nowak Financial Services (originally Joe Nowak Insurance Agencies) in Brisbane – as an agent with Legal and General, and which is currently owned and operated by son, Michael Nowak.

Joe Nowak is a two-time Past President of the AFA, in 1989 and from 2001-2002, and was awarded the Michael Murphy Award by the AFA in 2014 for his dedication to the financial advice profession. He is also a Life Member of the AFA and a 40 year member of the MDRT.

Nowak leaves behind a legacy to clients of advising on life insurance, assisting with claims, and providing retirement plans and savings plans for education, and has managed over 100 claims in the last 10 years totalling over $15 million.
