AMP has created a new role to oversee its underwriting team, with the appointment of Marcello Bertasso to the position of Head of Underwriting.
AMP has also announced that Warren Page has been appointed as the insurer’s Chief Underwriter, after holding that position for the last six months in an acting capacity.
Mr Bertasso joins AMP from CommInsure, where he held a senior underwriting position, having previously worked with Swiss Re in South Africa in a variety of roles, including Chief Underwriter.
Mr Page’s background includes various underwriting roles with NRMA Life, Colonial First State, Mercantile Mutual and MLC, prior to joining AMP. His role will report to Mr Bertasso.
Commenting on the creation of the ‘Head of Underwriting’ role, AMP’s Director of Wealth Protection Products, Michael Paff, said ‘Head of Underwriting’ is a new role and reflects AMP’s commitment to underwriting excellence.”
