The FPA has brought back its very successful ‘Ask an Expert’ free advice service as part of its 2010 Financial Planning Week, being held from 24 to 30 May.

Now in its tenth year, the aim of Financial Planning Week is to educate consumers about the importance of financial advice and the need to seek advice from a trusted source such as members of the FPA.

This year’s theme is ‘Invest in the Right Advice’, and one of the key initiatives addressing this theme is the FPA’s ‘Ask an Expert’ service.  Free financial advice is provided to consumers across a range of financial topics such as:

  • Protecting your family with insurance
  • Superannuation
  • Setting financial goals & budgeting
  • Savings & investments
  • Managing tax
  • Retirement planning
  • Managing debt

Consumers can access this free service by clickng on the ‘Ask an Expert’ link at www.goodadvice.com.au.

This will be the third year the FPA has run ‘Ask an Expert’, which saw advisers responding to 460 questions in 2009.

The service extends from 24 May until the end of the financial year on 30 June 2010.

Other initiatives during Financial planning Week include:

  • FPA Tip of the Day, where the FPA encourages Australians to think critically about their financial situation (a diffrent topic for each day during Financal laning Week) and to whom they trust their financial affairs
  • Free consumer seminars across the country on topics such as ‘making the most of your investments’
  • Financial planning information days
  • A careers expo

FPA Acting CEO, Deen Sanders, said Financial Planning Week “… is an opportunity for the financial planning profession to show consumers how financial planners can help them reach and maintain financial security and peace of mind.”
