ING to Upskill BDMs in New Service to Advisers

ING Australia (ING) has announced it is implementing a new training and development program for its Business Development Managers in a new approach to providing services to advice practices.

The new approach centres around creating a BDM service that will add bottom line value to advisers as they position their practices to best serve their clients in a post GFC world.

ING’s General Manager Advice & Distribution, Ross Barnwell, commented: “Our Business Development Managers are the key link between the business and advisers. Therefore it is important that BDMs have the latest tools and understandings to assist and support advisers as the financial advice industry moves from product-based to advice-based solutions for clients.

… the new program …is intended to furnish BDMs with knowledge in all functions of an adviser practice

All ING BDMs will participate in the new program.  It is intended to furnish BDMs with knowledge in all functions of an adviser practice, from marketing through to back-office efficiency, and is being delivered by ING in association with industry services provider, The Encore Group (see previous story BDM of the Future – New Approach).

ING says it is the first first life company to undertake this new course for its BDMs.  “This is a significant investment to give our BDMs the tools to assist advisers in adding value to the bottom line of their practice,” said Mr Barnwell.

ING also acknowledged state awards won by two of its BDMs, Vilma Attanasio (South Australia) and Lyndall James (NSW) as part of a recent BDM industry awards program.
