Risk-focussed dealer group, Synchron, has joined forces with online personal insurance portal, MultiCover, to provide qualified leads to its advisers.
The MultiCover website provides a free service which it says aims to explain the various types of personal insurance cover available to consumers in easy-to-understand language. Customers register their interest on the site, and are contacted within five minutes by a Synchron adviser to discuss their insurance needs.
Speaking to riskinfo about the partnership, Synchron Director, Paul Riegelhuth, said it was about tapping in to different markets.
It’s really about embracing technology and internet marketing
“It’s really about embracing technology and internet marketing, to get to an insurance market that may resist the more traditional approach from an adviser,” Mr Riegelhuth said.
“It’s aimed at the people who are happy to remain anonymous: they know about it (life insurance), they would like to explore it, and they find the internet less threatening,” he added.
Mr Riegelhuth said that the service could be adapted to the needs of both the immediate, ‘hot’ buyer, or to someone looking for a broader insurance strategy.
“One of our advisers has never met any of the clients that have been referred to him via MultiCover. It’s all done over the phone and internet, as a simple, transactional arrangement. He works out of a remote part of Queensland so the referral process works very well for him,” he said.
To receive leads, Mr Riegelhuth explained, Synchron advisers must subscribe to the MultiCover service for a minimum initial three month period, with the option to continue monthly. The advisers can choose how many referrals they would like to receive each month, and only pay for actual leads. In joining up, advisers must commit to the communication requirements, which include making contact with the client within five minutes of receiving the lead.
“We have approximately 24 advisers on the program already,” he said. “We limited the amount to start with, because there had to be enough traffic to the website to generate enough leads for the advisers. We started off with four advisers, and as the amount of activity has increased we’ve slotted more in.”
Mr Riegelhuth said MultiCover approached Synchron about setting up the partnership: “They (MultiCover) come from an internet marketing background, so they bring their strengths, like search engine optimisation, to the relationship, while Synchron brings the insurance expertise.”
