MetLife Announces SMS Initiative

Customers will be sent reminders about their insurance cover via text message as part of a new initiative by MetLife.

The service enables MetLife’s group risk partners’ members to receive messages and reminders on their mobile phones from MetLife’s underwriters and claims assessors.

Members will receive messages notifying them to expect a call from an unknown number, and remind them of appointments.

Tom Flood, Chief Administrative Officer, said the initiative complements MetLife’s recently launched tele-underwriting and tele-assessment claims service.

“People are busy and communicating via text message is immediate and can be highly effective, resulting in a decrease in our cycle times”, Mr Flood said.

“We always want to challenge our service standard and provide the flexibility that makes it easy for our partners and their customers to do business with us.”
