Presented jointly by the AFA, riskinfo and the Beddoes Institute, the Client Service Team Awards recognise the best underwriting, claims and business support teams in the life insurance industry. This is the third year the Awards have been presented, and the second year that Macquarie has won all three categories.

Speaking to riskinfo at the event, Macquarie Life’s Head of Underwriting, Claims and Insurance Proposition, Dr Sally Phillips, said she was surprised and delighted by the clean sweep.

“I’m really looking forward to sharing this news with the rest of the team, particularly because these awards are voted for by advisers. The individuals in our claims, underwriting and sales teams usually only hear this kind of feedback call by call, but this shows how much their efforts are appreciated by the wider adviser and client market.

“Choice, value and quality service is what we pride ourselves on delivering, and I’d like to thank all the advisers who voted in the awards for their acknowledgement.”

The Client Service Team Awards are the result of around 2,000 survey responses from financial advisers which are then analysed by the Beddoes Institute. The winners are presented at the annual AFA Life Company of the Year Awards, which were held at Sydney’s Westin Hotel on Wednesday 11 March.

Commenting generally on the importance of the Awards, AFA CEO, Brad Fox, noted that the tripartite relationship between insurer, adviser and client is important for Australian societal outcomes.

“The research into Australians that receive help from a financial adviser to organise their life insurance show clearly that they have far better protection in the event of death or health disaster. Advised clients have more than three times the death cover of non-advised Australians, and they have insurance contracts with far better terms and conditions – the evidence of the quality shows up at claim time when it really matters. Advised life insurance continues to deliver far better outcomes than direct insurance,” Mr Fox said.
