MLC Boosts Group Life Team

MLC Life will push further into the group life insurance market and has hired five senior staff with institutional client experience from other insurers as part of the move.

MLC Life Group Insurance – Chief Customer Officer, Suzanne Smith said the new staff included experienced pricing actuaries, insurance product experts and relationship managers and would complement the existing deep experience within the business.

The five new staffers include former TAL Senior Business Relationship Manager Michael Shagrin who will take on a similar role at MLC focusing on Corporate & Industry Funds and leading the Industry Super relationship management team.

Shagrin is joined by former TAL staffers Sean Potter and Matt Lang, Potter taking on the role of Senior Relationship Manager and Lang taking on the role of Senior Manager Transformation. Former MetLife Pricing Analyst, Jenny Liu has taken on the role of Pricing Manager at MLC Life and former AMP Client Relationship Manager, Megan Clements has joined as Strategic Product Manager and  will play a key role in evolving MLC Life Insurance’s industry fund strategy.

“With this expanded team in place, we are in a very strong position to deepen our existing partnerships with our customers and expand our industry fund portfolio,” said Smith.

The announcement of the new hires follows recent news that MLC Life had signed a distribution deal with its former owners National Australia Bank (NAB) in which the latter would offer MLC’s simple life insurance products via its branch network, over the phone and online.
