The former managing director of TAL, Jim Minto has appointed as the chair of New Zealand life insurer Partners Life.
Minto takes on the role from current chair and non-executive director Sam Knowles who will step down from the chair but remain a director of Partners Life.
Minto has prior experience in the New Zealand market having worked for Tower in NZ in a number of roles from 1988 to 2002 before becoming Managing Director of Tower in Australia and New Zealand from early 2005 to late 2006, after which he headed up TAL Limited until March 2015.
The appointment adds to Minto’s presence on the boards of financial services groups as he is currently a director of Australian Finance Group, Dai-ichi Life Asia Pacific and a past chair and director of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA)
Minto’s last executive roles included Executive Officer at Dai-ichi Life from June 2013 to September 2016 and interim Chief Executive at ASFA from July to October 2016.
