The MDRT organisation is gearing up to deliver its first-ever global virtual event, which is open to qualifying advisers within the organisation’s 65,000 member-base across 70 nations and territories.

According to MDRT, the five-day 2020 Virtual Event, commencing on 3 August, is intended to deliver its members “…the full MDRT experience from the comfort of their homes.”

The event is set to be broadcast in five different time zones and will be broadcast or translated into 13 languages.

In seeking to produce a cyberspace version of its traditional annual meeting; the first having been conducted since 1927, the event has been structured to deliver virtual versions of components that make up its usual in-person meetings, namely:

  • Main platform speaker presentations
  • Focus sessions, in which industry experts share their knowledge in a variety of categories including:
    • Protection products
    • Wealth management
    • Retirement strategies
    • Marketing
    • Prospecting
    • Business processes
    • Staffing
    • Technology
    • Fees
    • Work-life balance.
  • MDRT Speaks sessions, delivered as brief, fast-paced presentations by advisers intended to share innovative and creative business ideas to improve productivity, client engagement strategies and business practices

The virtual nature of the event means delegates will be able to receive the event feed at the same time of day in their own time zone, where the sessions will be broadcast during normal working hours and will be broken into morning, afternoon and evening blocks.

In seeking to connect its members who share similar issues or business propositions, this event will also offer delegates the opportunity to participate in the ‘MDRT Build Your Network’ matching service. If they wish to participate, the member will provide details during the registration process, which will be used to match attendees based on their shared interests, with time being set aside for those members to participate in video and online discussions.

In adapting to the challenges associated with shared engagement in a Covid world, this five-day event will be made available for broadcast for three weeks following its completion on 7 August. Each of the three weeks will deliver session broadcasts and additional content on different weekly themes:

Week 1: Navigating Through Uncertain Times

Week 2: Creating a Growth Mindset

Week 3: Becoming a Whole Person
