A new podcast series has been launched for risk advice specialists.
Called ‘Wish You’d Known‘, each podcast breaks down one or more of the myriad of issues impacting financial advisers as they serve their clients’ life insurance needs and best interests.
The service, launched earlier this month, is the brain-child of former NSW risk specialist adviser, Glen James, who now operates a broader personal finance podcast service called ‘my millennial money‘.
James says the ‘Wish You’d Known’ series has been designed for:
- New entrants to the industry, especially those new to the risk advice sector
- More experienced advisers who want to sharpen up their skills
- Those advisers who want to learn ‘one percenters’ to improve themselves, client outcomes and their businesses
He discusses a range of topics with co-host, Danni Visser (from Zurich/OnePath), together with numerous industry insurance experts and other advice professionals. Topics included in the first podcast series include:
- Understanding insurance PDSs
- Claims best practices
- Mental Health and musculoskeletal issues
- IP contracts deep dive
- Lump sum covers
- Moving to a risk only business model
- Working with referral sources as a risk adviser
- Current state of play with legislation and insurance
“As an adviser who focused on risk advice during my career, I was always concerned when I saw advice documents that clients had received from other advisers that had clear knowledge gaps in the area of risk advice, and I wanted to help change that.” said James, who added that he wants to ensure new entrants to the advice profession have a trusted source of information from experts, while also seeking to share his own learnings that seasoned advisers ‘wish they’d known’ earlier in their career.
