TAL has launched a learning and development platform offering its superannuation fund partners access to on-demand education and training to support their teams.

The insurer says the TAL Insurance Academy was developed in collaboration with its superannuation fund partners “…with the aim of using expert training and development to deliver positive member experiences.”

Traditional learning modules are combined with interactive and practical learning tools which can be embedded within a partner’s new employee onboarding programs and ongoing training.

TAL General Manager, Partnerships, Dan Taylor, says TAL’s ambition is to make life insurance better understood and valued.

“Supporting our superannuation fund partners to have well informed and ongoing engagement with their members, and enhancing the value those members derive from their fund, reflects TAL’s commitment to partner excellence.”

He says in building the learning program, the company consulted with its partners to understand their training and people development needs and address those in its offering.

“From member-facing teams through to senior management and trustees, the TAL Insurance Academy delivers a range of learning content to meet diverse user needs.”

During the initial rollout of the program TAL’s superannuation fund partners’ employees completed 3,000 learning modules.

The course content is delivered by subject matter experts and includes an overview of the Australian life insurance landscape as well as immersive masterclasses on key aspects of insurance in superannuation.

Taylor notes that with a focus on addressing industry challenges and opportunities, the masterclasses will explore topics including global and local trends, innovation, best practice, and health.

He adds that the platform allows TAL to extend its support and complement the existing face-to-face training it provides to partners. This includes a range of masterclasses on mental health conditions “…recognising their impact on super fund members and ensuring super fund teams are equipped to have informed conversations and provide targeted support.”
