News that insurers reacted quickly to support customers affected by ex-tropical cyclone Alfred in Queensland and northern NSW resonated with advisers this week…
Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred and subsequent storms in southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales have been declared an insurance catastrophe.
In response to the storms Zurich is offering hardship support and financial assistance to its life insurance customers who have been directly impacted by the event, or are working with emergency response teams in impacted regions. It is also accelerating claims settling for property and motor.
Matt Paterson, Chief Claims Officer, Zurich says: “As many continue to face the threat of flooding and others are now grappling with the aftermath, Zurich is here to ensure customers receive the immediate support they need.”
Elsewhere, MetLife Australia has announced a three-month (6 March 2025 to 6 June 2025) premium waiver for impacted customers with MetLife Protect policies.
The firm’s Chief Insurance Officer Meray El-Khoury says: “We hope this premium waiver eases some of the burden, reassuring our customers that their life insurance cover remains in place when they need it most.”
