APRA has appointed Jane Magill as Executive Director, Life Insurance, Private Health Insurance and Superannuation, with the move taking effect 16 February.
Magill is currently Executive Director, General Insurance and Banking at the organisation and is to replace Carmen Beverley-Smith, whose resignation was announced last week.
Peter Diamond, currently GM, Banking at APRA, will step into the role of acting Executive Director, General Insurance and Banking while a recruitment process is undertaken.
Peter Kohlhagen will continue acting as Executive Director, Life Insurance, Private Health Insurance and Superannuation until Magill formally takes up her new role.
Magill joined APRA in May 2023 as Chief of Staff and Executive Services before being appointed Executive Director, General Insurance and Banking in August 2024.
She has more than 30 years’ experience across banking, funds management and commodity trading, with senior leadership and risk management roles spanning Australia, Europe, and the Americas.
Prior to joining APRA, Magill was Global Lead, Business Operational Risk for the Commodities and Global Markets Group at Macquarie. Her career also includes senior positions at Commonwealth Funds Management, Japan’s Sanwa Bank and Wood Gundy.
