The inaugural PPS Mutual Risk Practice of the Year Award has been won by Queensland firm, Personal Risk Professionals (PRP).
This national award sets a benchmark in recognising excellence in life insurance advice and the firms which offer this critically important service to the Australian community.
Headed by MD and Partner, Mark Everingham, the award validates the outstanding services PRP provides its clients, as judged by an independent panel, where key assessment metrics included:
- Customer excellence
- Commercial strategy
- Continuous improvement
- Cultural strength
- Industry contribution

Established by PPS Mutual to celebrate the vital role advisers play in achieving quality outcomes for Australians and to recognise advice practices where life insurance sits at the core of the business model, the winning firm was judged to have excelled among a very high quality group of its peers in areas including its:
- Proven reputation as life insurance subject matter experts, supporting professional partners
- Values-driven approach based on hope, kindness, bravery and honesty
- Active involvement in mentoring and industry advocacy
- Strong compliance and workflow management
PPS Mutual CEO, Michael Pillemer, said Personal Risk Professionals exemplified the intent and purpose of the award.
“Risk advice has never been more complex or more important. The profession is operating under intense regulatory and operational pressure, yet advisers continue to play a critical role in protecting Australians at their most vulnerable moments.
“In that context, we congratulate Personal Risk Professionals on being named the 2026 PPS Mutual Risk Practice of the Year.”
…the independent panel judged that PRP was the most complete and robust example when assessed against all criteria as a whole
While the other finalists demonstrated notable excellence across particular dimensions including client and claims advocacy, adviser development and community contribution, Pillemer noted the independent panel judged that PRP was the most complete and robust example when assessed against all criteria as a whole.
“The judging panel also noted the high calibre of finalists, reflecting the depth of capability and commitment across the specialist risk advice profession and the high standard of advice being delivered nationally,” Pillemer added.
From his own perspective, Everingham said the award was a reflection of the firm’s values and the trust placed in the PRP team by both its clients and its professional partners:
Being named PPS Mutual Risk Practice of the Year is an incredibly humbling moment for our entire team
“Being named PPS Mutual Risk Practice of the Year is an incredibly humbling moment for our entire team. This award represents far more than professional recognition – it reflects the trust our professional partners and clients place in us, particularly at the most vulnerable moments of their lives, and the values that have guided Personal Risk Professionals since day one: hope, kindness, bravery and honesty.”
The other five outstanding advice practices comprising the six finalists in the inaugural year of this award were:
- Hewison Private Wealth – Victoria
