Zurich Addresses Domestic Violence, Farming Community

0

Zurich has released updated PDSs for its Wealth Protection and Active offers, taking effect from 24th October 2026.

While this was not a major update, a recent message to advisers confirmed the following key changes, one which is included in the updated PDSs and one which is not:

Enhanced domestic violence support (Wealth Protection and Active)

Zurich notes it has introduced enhanced support measures for clients experiencing domestic violence, allowing a life insured to cancel cover on their own life without requiring the involvement of other policy owners.

The insurer advises it may also offer equivalent replacement cover to help clients maintain ongoing protection.

This change is documented in the updated PDSs, where more information can be accessed here: Domestic and Family Violence Policy

Changed terms for farmers Income Protection offering (Wealth Protection, Active & OneCare)

The insurer says it recognises that farming income can fluctuate significantly due to factors outside a client’s control, including:

  • Drought
  • Floods
  • Commodity prices
  • Seasonal conditions

For eligible farming clients, Zurich advises income will now be assessed using an average of the previous five years, rather than allowing a single poor year to disproportionately impact the income used for claim assessment. This enhanced policy term is not included in the new PDSs.
