Advisers have clearly stated their two most important contact points when it comes to dealing with the life companies.
By a large margin, advisers have said that it is underwriters and Business Development Managers who are the key to their life company relationships.
At time of releasing this update, 43% of respondents said the underwriter is the most important relationship they have with the insurer, followed by 33%, who voted for their Business Development Manager contact. The next highest vote was the 6% who each said that a senior executive or product manager was their most important contact.
Notwithstanding the obvious importance of these roles, one argument for the results can be that underwriters and BDM’s are the people with whom an adviser has the most contact, but a low vote for the new business case manager (only 2%) suggests this is not the case.
Poll respondents clearly indicated their relationship with the claims assessor or claims manager was not important, although other findings suggest the claims process itself remains a critical element for many advisers.
Commenting on the poll outcome to date, CommInsure’s Head of Customer and Channel Solutions, Michael Browne, said that despite the rapid introduction of electronic underwriting, the results confirm that underwriters are critical to any company’s success and enormous importance is placed on developing their relationship skills.
