AIA Australia and Zurich have announced the following key appointments this week:

AIA Australia

In a move designed to consolidate its focus on customer-centric operations, AIA Australia (AIA) has appointed former Mercer executive, Andrew Godfrey, to the role of Chief Administration Officer.

With over 20 years experience in the financial services industry, Mr Godfrey will oversee the company’s Operations, IT and Strategic Initiatives Offices.

AIA Australia CEO, Damien Green, said that Mr Godfrey’s significant operational and commercial experience will make him an ideal addition to AIA Australia’s executive team.

Zurich

Zurich has announced two underwriting appointments which, according to the insurer, reflects the success of its teleunderwriting strategy.

Pam Fitzgerald joins Zurich from an external life broking firm, while Shayne Fortune joins the Tele-Underwriting team from Zurich’s Call Centre.

Zurich says it believes there is a growing trend of financial advisers adjusting their business operating models to deliver increased risk advice by volume and to spend more time with customers on recommendations and planning.

Zurich’s General Manager – Life Risk Australia, Colin Morgan, said “Zurich’s teleunderwriting service is now consistently used for one in five applications, sometimes hitting 25 per cent of applications.”
