Advisers Switching to iPads

One in two advisers are likely to own an iPad in the next twelve months, according to a survey conducted by Zurich.

Polling around 700 advisers at its recent national product updates, Zurich found that while only 10% of advisers currently owned an iPad, a further 40% expected to purchase one during the year.

Of those surveyed, Queensland-based advisers seemed the most “tech-savvy” with 18.2% of Gold Coast advisers and 15.2% of Brisbane advisers already owning an iPad.  In contrast, Melbourne advisers seem to be slower to take up the tablet, with just 5.7% owning the device, and only 1/3 planning on purchasing an iPad in the next twelve months.

“Advisers appreciate they need to respond quickly to their customer needs, as well have a vast array of information at their fingertips,” said Colin Morgan, Zurich General Manager Life Australia.

“The new technology means they can be mobile and better engage with their customers.  As Zurich’s research demonstrates advisers are eagerly seeking the tools needed to help them,” Mr Morgan added.

    The survey also found:

    • 6.5% of Adelaide advisers currently own an iPad with a further 44.2% expecting to purchase one in the following year
    • Nearly 40% of Perth advisers plan to own an iPad in the near future, adding to the 8.8% of those surveyed who already do
    • Sydney mirrored the national average, reaching 9.2% for current ownership (national = 9.4%) and 41.2% for future purchasers (national = 38.4%).

“The percentage of advisers who plan on purchasing iPads this year is staggering and demonstrates they have been quick to take up the challenge of having the right technological tools to help their customers and grow their businesses,” Mr Morgan said.

Zurich has recently launched a range of adviser tools which leverage the popularity of Apple’s products, including an integrated life risk quotation application for iPhone, and a customer-facing risk needs analysis application for iPad.

Apple released iPad version 2.0 to the Australian market last week.
