AFA FoFA Response Pack for Advisers

The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) has launched a FoFA response package for its members intended to ‘… lead, support and inspire all financial advisers through the reforms announced… on 28 April.’

The ‘FoFA in Focus’ response pack, which is also available to non AFA members, includes an analysis of the impact of FoFA on advisers and consumers, and outlines the AFA’s policy position on the key reforms.

AFA CEO, Richard Klipin, said the battle was still in full force, but had moved from a policy to a political debate.  “We must ensure that our collective voice is heard,” he said.

The AFA is urging advisers to take action, and the pack contains suggestions on ways advisers can get involved in the debate. They include:

  • Visiting local members to express concerns regarding FoFA’s impact on advisers’ businesses
  • Becoming active on talkback radio, blogs and other social media

In particular, those members in marginal seats or independently held electorates are encouraged to contact the AFA directly.

AFA President, Brad Fox, said that AFA members have an expert understanding of consumers and their needs.

“We have a deep understanding of consumer expectations and the transformative value that quality financial advice provides. These are the interests that we will argue for, so that consumers retain the right to affordable, accessible advice,” Mr Fox said.

The pack was compiled by the AFA in collaboration with members of the AFA leadership team, practitioner members, licensee members, product partners and technical experts from across the market.
