Bank staff who have been retrenched are being targeted by insurers for back-office jobs, according to a leading financial services recruiter.
eFinancialCareers has reported that the insurance industry is providing alternative employment options for some ex-bank employees.
Among the jobs available are junior client-services, claims and underwriting positions, which the recruiter says are a good fit for junior operations professionals from retail banks.
“Banking candidates are not pro-actively clamouring to get into insurance, but what’s happening is that they are increasingly becoming more open to the suggestion when recruiters show them likely opportunities,” says Managing Director, eFinancialCareers Asia-Pacific, George McFerran.
However, Mr McFerran said it was more difficult for senior staff to swap sectors because of the high level of specialist insurance knowledge typically required.
