The AFA’s long-planned consumer-facing media campaign is launching this week.

AFA CEO Brad Fox:
AFA CEO Brad Fox: YBI will “…break through the jargon that litters our industry…”

Called Your Best Interests, the campaign is designed to educate and engage consumers about the critical importance that financial advice can play in their lives.

The AFA says the TV series will premiere on Channel 4ME (Channel 74) on Tuesday June 30 at 8.00pm, with the website going live on the same day.

“We believe YBI breaks new ground in terms of consumer education and engagement,” said AFA CEO, Brad Fox. “One of the first things we believe it will do is improve the financial literacy of consumers by breaking through the jargon that litters our industry and translating it into consumer-friendly language.”

The best profiles stand out because they speak about the adviser…

Ahead of the launch of the campaign, the AFA has been urging advisers to update their profiles to reflect who they are and their areas of expertise: “The best profiles stand out because they speak about the adviser, not just about what the adviser does,” Mr Fox said.

“A street address, not a PO Box, is important as the Google maps-based search function will not work properly without one,” added Mr Fox.

“We want to make it very easy for Australians to connect with AFA advisers who, when they become AFA members, sign up to a Code of Conduct that requires them to act with the utmost integrity which encompasses the highest standards of professional conduct, honesty, and ethics.”

Advisers can update their profiles on the new AFA website, or visit the Your Best Interests website for more information.
