AIA Australia and TAL have boosted the services on offer to superannuation fund members using their group life policies by offering an online claims service and improving the insurance calculators.

AIA Australia stated its efforts would be rolled out to Sunsuper fund members and allow them, as well as their doctors and employers, to lodge, review, manage and provide information for life insurance claims online via its ‘eClaims’ service.

The service would reduce the level of paper in each claim while processing them faster and assist in identifying relevant return to work and rehabilitation services for members.

AIA Australia, Chief Group Insurance Officer, Stephanie Phillips, said the service fitted into a wider ‘claims excellence’ initiative which aimed to improve decision times on claims and cut down processing delays.

Sunsuper, Manager – Member Benefits, Amalie White the new service was designed to make the insurance claims process less onerous and less complex and would continue to manage claims in house using an embedded AIA team.

TAL has revamped its existing insurance calculators for people seeking group life cover adding animations that can be tailored to any super fund.

TAL, Head of Digital, Jason Gracanin said the new calculators were an advanced white label product and were more engaging to use and would allow super funds members to better understand the value of having insurance.

Gracanin said the digital team worked with the TAL Design and Innovation area, along with partner Jade to deliver a new way of engaging superfund members.

“Working within TAL, we are able to leverage the wider resource and talent pool to deliver these sorts of initiatives to our group clients. This is especially true of the use of the innovation lab where the latest digital service capabilities can be tested, while leveraging the existing Open-API algorithms used by the existing calculators,” Gracanin said.
