Life insurer TAL has announced a raft of senior appointments as part of realigning its structure which it states is to better reflect the evolving shape and size of the Australian life insurance market and following the recent integration of the Asteron Life business.

It described the key changes include the realignment of the business around two business lines – Individual Life and Group Life and Investments.

The appointments include:

  • Previously TAL’s Chief Distribution Officer, Tim Thorne appointed to Chief Commercial Officer – Individual Life, responsible for the end-to-end customer and adviser propositions within TAL’s Direct and Retail markets
  • Previously TAL’s Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Howard appointed to Chief Commercial Officer – Group Life and Investments, leading TAL’s activities and capabilities in the Group Life, Investments, Health Services, and retirement markets

TAL announced two further appointments which it stated reflect the size and scope of their responsibilities within the two business lines:

  • Darren Wickham appointed as Executive General Manager, Group Life
  • Gavin Teichner appointed as Executive General Manager, Individual Life

Finally, it announced an appointment which it stated reflects TAL’s commitment to its customers, particularly around claims:

  • Previously General Manager – Group Insurance, Jenny Oliver appointed to the newly created Executive role of Chief Claims Office

        Why does it have to be a woman ?
        This is a complete load of politically correct nonsense.
        Why isn’t job positions based upon merit and the best person available for the job. Gender should play no part in a job selection at any level.

        That’s why we have minority groups not being qualified or are even capable of doing a job, but are being given preference over someone who is better qualified and more capable.

        What a crock this politically correct level of nonsense has descended to, and and some seem to embrace it,…. and for what reason ?
