Nearly 3,600 advisers may benefit from the Government’s recent announcement on the experienced adviser pathway, according to Wealth Data.

Writing in his weekly Adviser Insights report, Colin Williams says 3,590 advisers could benefit with the 10 year term extended to Dec 31, 2021, as opposed to 2019, as initially indicated last year (see: Experienced Pathway – Consultation Opens).

In his previous weekly report Colins had estimated that some 3,166 advisers could benefit from the experienced pathway when the 10 year period sat between Jan 1, 2004 and Jan 1, 2019 (see: 3,000+ Advisers May Benefit).

He says the 3,590 advisers have start dates before Dec 31, 2011 and are currently not showing on the FAR as holding a degree.

He notes too that advisers must complete the equivalent of 10 years service within a 15 year period starting from Jan 1, 2007 to Dec 31, 2021.

Williams adds that advisers can write to the Minister and ask for their qualifications to be reviewed, “…as many very good qualifications were not approved for so-called ‘technical’ reasons.”

“This will be seen by most as a very positive and refreshing approach,” he says.
