AIA Shares Plans for the Future

Advisers attending the AIA Adviser Summit in Melbourne heard the firm is keen to work more closely with them, and has put more power into the hands of consumers.

Sam Tremethick, AIA’s Chief Retail & Partnerships Officer, says AIA has launched a new app for clients’ online health claims that can also be used to manage their account, and change their personal details “…so they can ’self-serve’ beyond the basics”.

In addition, a new online portal is on the way for advisers, providing what Tremethick calls a “single digital access experience”, offering delegate access and greater reporting. It will also display a consolidated view of AIA and ex-CommInsure policies, claims data and reporting, and file upload for applications.

Working more closely with advisers is also a key focus for AIA, with Tremethick telling around 100 attendees at the Thursday 29 February conference that the firm needs to do a whole lot better. He wants to make sure AIA is the insurer advisers turn to.

He says that while AIA will commit to the adviser community, the firm would like advisers to reciprocate.

This year the firm will be actively working on client engagement initiatives to help advisers retain business. On the cards is an increase in email campaigns and customer communications.

…we are changing the way advisers traditionally talk about risk insurance to clients…

Tremethick says AIA’s client development manager model will build long-term value for advisers, rather than simply being transactional.

He said the firm’s goal is to work with its advice partners to obtain a deeper understanding of their business needs, goals and objectives. Enabling its CDMs to offer tailored solutions that drive sales, improve revenue for advisers, and create a differentiated proposition across life, health, and wellbeing.

“Anchored by our AIA Vitality and unique holistic health and wellbeing programs, we are changing the way advisers traditionally talk about risk insurance to clients,” he said.

Tremethick also said AIA is continually looking to innovate and update the AIA Vitality program to remain relevant and accessible to all members. One such update includes new cycling partnerships giving members a 25% off the purchase price of a Peloton or Specialized bike.

The company is also aware of the widening insurance coverage gap and persistent cost of living pressures. AIA will be taking a proactive approach by offering a $500 payment to advisers who encourage their clients to engage with AIA Vitality and achieve silver-plus status within their first six months, as well as a $500 payment for AIA Vitality members, upon reaching this milestone.

Tremethick also reminded advisers of its special offers for clients paying annual premiums of $12,000 or more. AIA Extra gives those clients access to benefits and rewards such as discounted business class flights. AIA Extra is available for eligible AIA Priority Protection clients until 31 December 2024.
