The first quarter of this year has seen positive growth of 76 advisers according to figures published by Wealth Data, which takes the total number of advisers in Australia to 15,576.
The firm’s Colin Williams says at first sight the number may look out of sync with the current calendar year growth of 100.
“However, what has occurred is that many of the advisers ceasing, including for switches, have done so right at the end of March and appointments came in April,” he states in his latest report.
“The growth of 76 is a big improvement on the same quarter of 2024 which was a negative minus 50, a turnaround of plus 126 advisers.”
Figures show that in Q1 2024, a total of 86 new entrants commenced and in Q1 2025 it is 121, a gain of 35.
“A larger part of the turnaround has been the number of advisers coming back into advice,” states Williams.
“In net terms the quarter has gained 14 new licensees compared to eight in 2024.”
Most growth for licensee owners is with Partners Wealth Group, a new licensee that moved away from the Entireti & Akumin Group. Next is Endeavor Asset Management that gained all its advisers from licensee Wealth Trail. Centrepoint Group continue its growth story up by 19.
*The numbers may change over coming weeks as licensees have 30 days to report adviser movement.
