Finalists Named in AFA Rising Star Award

Six of the best young advisers in the industry have been recognised with the announcement of the finalists in the 2010 AFA Rising Star Award.

Now in its sixth year, the Award, sponsored by ING Australia, recognises up-and-coming advisers who provide quality, holistic advice, who demonstrate a commitment to education and who make a valuable contribution to their industry and to their community.

This year’s final six, dominated by Queensland-based advisers, are:

  • Nikkii Park (QLD) Risk QLD
  • Andrew Shakespeare (NSW) JSA Financial Planning Group
  • Michael Batten (QLD) Batten Financial Services
  • Mark Rattigan(WA) Merideon Wealth Strategies
  • Paul Trosti (NSW) Godfrey Pembroke
  • Christopher Jones(QLD) RI Advice (RetireInvest)

The importance and value of the AFA Rising Star has been further validated this year, with its 2007 winner, Chris Browne, selected as a finalist in the 2010 AFA Adviser of the Year Award.

Reflecting the high quality of this year’s candidates, AFA CEO, Richard Klipin, said the finalists have a pedigree education, are innovative, passionate and committed to their communities and their industry: “Everything that is good about the advice industry resonates through these outstanding candidates,” said Mr Klipin.

In sponsoring the Award since its inception, ING Australia’s Head of Retail Insurance Products, Gerard Kerr, said “It’s our way of helping recognise, celebrate and support tomorrow’s leaders.”

This year’s winner will be announced at the 2010 AFA National Conference on the Gold Coast on Sunday 24 October.
