Senior Appointments

The Financial Services Council (FSC), Asgard and BT Financial Group have announced key appointments during the last week:

The FSC has elected Macquarie Bank’s Peter Maher as its Chairman, replacing Perpetual’s David Deverall, who has held the position for the past three years.

Colonial First State CEO  Brian Bissaker was re-elected as the FSC’s Deputy Chairman, while Michael Bargholz, CEO, AllianceBernstein Australia & New Zealand, replaced Mr Maher as the Council’s other Deputy Chairman.

Directors Harry Stout, CEO, ING Australia (OnePath), and Peter Promnitz, Region Head, Asia Pacific, Mercer, resigned from the Board at the FSC’s AGM, replaced by Suncorp Life CEO Geoff Summerhayes and Equity Trustees MD Robin Burns.

Asgard/BT FinancialGroup

Darren Whereat has been appointed to the role of Head of Distribution, Asgard.  Mr Whereat’s appointment follows a review of Asgard’s sales and business support teams, which now include a state manager for each mainland state and consolidates the previous Institutional Business Services and Key Accounts & Distribution businesses.

Asgard also announced the appointment of Tim North Ash to the role of National Manager – Key Accounts, Institutional and NSW Sales.

In other BT Financial Group news, Jane Watts has been announced as the new General Manager of Westpac Private Bank, and James Blackshaw joins St George Private Clients as State Head QLD and WA.
